An 11 year adventure: ‌Yukari’s experience within our Finance Team.

‌I have been with Jetstar Japan for 11 years in the Finance Department and am currently responsible for taxation and cash management. In taxation, in addition to filing various tax such as consumption tax, property tax, aviation fuel tax, and petroleum and coal tax, I prepare the necessary documents for tax audits by the National Tax Agency, and deal with taxation in the destination countries. Regarding cash management, we provide weekly reports to shareholders.

All these tasks are very diverse, and I understand the overall picture and gather necessary information while working with other departments. I find it rewarding to adjust my focus as needed, as well as to discover interesting aspects of the work, expand my knowledge, and be able to grow through the process.

Prior to joining the company, I worked abroad for a long time, including four years in the Czech Republic and three years in New Zealand, as well as in Australia and Canada. I love travelling and I took the opportunity to explore various places from each location I lived in. Since joining Jetstar Japan, I have visited many different places, both in Japan and abroad.

Exploring Japan

In August this year, I travelled to Asahikawa for three days and two nights. I visited Furano and Biei to enjoy the beautiful scenery of greenery and flowers at “Shikisaino-Oka” and stayed at a unique and attractive accommodation with a sauna heated by a wood-burning stove.

Getting involved in our Tree-Planting Events

After this experience, I was planning to travel again to Asahikawa in September to see the autumn foliage, but I later learned about a tree-planting event in October and decided to join.
I arrived at New Chitose Airport the day before the event and took a train to Asahikawa. The room at “OMO7 Asahikawa” where I stayed was functional, easy to use, and very comfortable. The next morning, we drove to the research forest, about an hour and a half away by car. The weather was beautiful, and it felt unusually hot for October during the day. The white trunks and green leaves of the many birch trees were beautiful, and I realized that we were in a forest in a cold weather region.

We planted 10 saplings in pairs, but the work of tilling the hard ground with a hoe was harder than I had expected, and I was sore the next day. It was also a unique opportunity to meet members of other departments in person, whom I had only spoken to online. Although it was a short two-day trip, the time spent with colleagues was very enjoyable and a great experience. I would like to participate in company events and family events again in the future.
