Welcoming our new uniform: Yuko, Customer Service Manager, shares her experience as Uniform Ambassador
I have been a uniform ambassador since 2019, and after the COVID pandemic postponed this project, I’m so pleased that we finally revealed our new uniforms on 29 February.
When I first saw the new uniform design, I was overwhelmed by the bold, Australian look, and the introduction of blue was very refreshing. The designers were careful to reflect the feedback from the ambassadors after two wearer trials, including introducing more pockets and putting an emphasis on functionality. Sleeves and skirt lengths were also adjusted to make sure they were work-friendly lengths. Compared to our current uniforms, we will enjoy a wider choice of items and combinations. I’m excited to imagine the time when we can all start wearing them, where each crew member will walk through airports wearing uniforms of slightly different items, while sharing the same concept.
An opportunity to walk the run way
I also attended the reveal event in Melbourne, representing Jetstar Japan. The event was very inspiring as it was a large scale gathering including all three Jetstar Group airlines. I was full of nerves, but the ambassadors from Jetstar Airways and Jetstar Asia walked confidently down the “runway”. I was very encouraged by their smiles and their eye contact when we passed each other on the runway. That said, I spoke to some ambassadors who also said they were nervous, wondering if they would be able to walk in front of everyone without mistakes, which made me sympathize with them.
Living our One Team value
The main part of the event was the fashion show which featured our ambassadors appearing from the A321LR. Before walking the runway, we did a mock pre-flight check while waiting in the cabin and had a laugh to relieve everyone’s tension. By coming together for a common purpose, I realized that we truly embody the values of One Team.
I hope the new uniforms for customer-facing team members will bring everyone together even more and provide an opportunity to create an exciting future for the company.
We now move on to the fitting and ordering steps in preparation for the launch day later this year. I look forward to continuing to play my role as an ambassador so that we can have a cut over day all together.
