The spice of life

With a firm push on the aircraft door, JQ963 was ready for Adelaide. Scott walked back up the aerobridge, radio in hand. He just couldn't imagine life behind a desk. Whether he was checking in with pilots and crew, helping passengers or heading out on the tarmac, no two days were ever the same and that's what he loved.

Nine years in, Jetstar still amazed him - you could feel the energy of a young business everywhere. Things changed constantly, but that created opportunity. He'd never had the chance to work with so many different teams before. Even better, great performance got noticed. The next big idea to change Jetstar's business could easily be his.

Scott knew he was a lucky man. How many people had Cairns, Brisbane and the Gold Coast as their office? 'Wow,' he thought as he set off down the terminal. 'What a great job to have'.

The action plan

Looking out at the wild weather, Scott knew his team had to respond quickly. Cyclone season could be extreme but for him, the greater the challenge, the more he thrived.

With pressure on and customers waiting, communication was critical. People needed information so being open, honest and clear was the best way to be. He also needed to check in with his team.

As news came that the weather was clearing and flying would soon resume, Scott felt a buzz. A cyclone wasn't an everyday occurrence, but luckily for his customers, Jetstar wasn't an everyday airline.
